Central Depository Company participated in the 10th Cross Training Seminar of Asia-Pacific Central Securities Depositories Group (ACG) jointly organized by PT. Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (KSEI) and PT. Kliring Penjaminan Efek Indonesia (KPEI) from June 1st to 5th, 2008 at Bali Resort, Indonesia. A delegation comprising of Mr. Rasool Hooda, Manager Legal & Compliance, Mr. Faisal Parekh, Deputy Manager Operations and Mr. Ali Abbas Zaidi, Branch Manager - CDC Lahore office represented CDC at the event.

The main theme of the seminar was Straight Through Processing (STP) for Improving Market Liquidity. In recent years, the importance of STP implementation has enhanced considerably. STP enables the entire process of capital market and transaction payment to be conducted electronically without manual intervention. The seminar covered various issues and aspects related to STP & CSD Linkages. Distinguished market regulators from Indonesia besides other experts and ACG delegates delivered interactive and highly informative presentations.

 

The presentation delivered by the CDC delegates mainly focused on current Pakistani STP model of automated trading & settlement systems and end-to-end transactions of a trading cycle. It also covered functions of infrastructure institutions and intermediaries including brokers, stock exchange trading systems, central depository, settlement bank and clearing house. The event provided an open and interesting forum for ACG delegates to share their experiences and develop ties of mutual cooperation. More that 60 delegates from 22 different organizations representing 16 countries attended the seminar.
