::::::::: Road Shows on Investment in the
Capital Market::::::::: |
|
Overview
The capital market of Pakistan has
matured in the last few years. Better regulatory systems have
been put in place and small investors’ interest is now more
protected than ever. Electronic systems have further made stock
market dealings easier and transparent. The return on stock
market investment has improved and the mutual funds market is
also rapidly expanding, which is good for small investors.
In
this backdrop the need to expand the investors’ base
of the stock markets, is must for the market’s further
growth. To do this the Central Depository Company, which
is recognized as the infrastructure company of the securities
market, along with the Securities & Exchange Commission
of Pakistan (SECP), had initiated a series of Road Shows
which took start in February 2005.
These
Road Shows would be productive, create awareness and educate the
individual investors on:
-
the opportunities and risks in
Pakistan’s Capital Market with a future outlook for potential
investors;
-
the benefits and risks of
Investing in Mutual Funds; what are Mutual Funds, their
performance and how to invest in them; and
-
the role of CDC as the
infrastructure company & SECP as the market regulator.
Objectives
-
To educate the
potential investors about the working of the stock markets –
risks and benefits.
-
To remove the
misconceptions about stock market investments.
-
To provide a
forum to fund managers, brokerage houses and financial
institutions to reach individual & corporate investors.
