CDC is an active member of the following regional and international bodies / entities:

 

Asia-Pacific Central Securities Depository Group (ACG)

The Asia-Pacific Central Securities Depository Group (ACG) is an international organization working to facilitate the exchange of information and to promote mutual assistance among member securities depositories and clearing organizations in the Asia Pacific region. As a member organization, CDC hosted ACG’s 10th Annual General Meeting in Karachi, Pakistan in 2006, which was attended by around 60 delegates from 18 regional countries as well as chairpersons of major financial regulatory bodies of the country. CDC was also the ACG Secretariat for 2007.

 

The structure of the ACG was reorganised on 3 December 2010 at the 14th ACG General Meeting in Mumbai, India .The reorganization of ACG was conducted with an aim to increase the efficiency and vitality of internal and external activities of ACG under a consistent policy. In the new structure, the Executive Committee is established and tasked with ensuring the efficient and consistent implementation of ACG activities from a medium-term perspective. The Executive Committee will fulfil its responsibility over the course of its three-year term in cooperation with the Annual General Meeting Management Team and Task Forces as necessary.

 

The Executive Committee has seven members out of which four members are chosen from the conveners of different task forces and remaining three were to be elected. CDC Pakistan contested the elections and secured 19 votes out of 21 eligible votes (highest votes) of member organizations from 16 countries.

 

Following are the first members of the Executive Committee:

 

1.      Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited

2.      China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation Limited

3.      Japan Securities Depository Center, Inc. (Secretariat)

4.      Korea Securities Depository

5.      National Securities Depository Limited (India)

6.      Singapore Exchange 

7.      Vietnam Securities Depository

 

In addition, from the Executive Committee Members, Mr. Yoshinobu Takeuchi, President & CEO of Japan Securities Depository Center, Inc. was elected as the Executive Committee Chairman.

 

Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA)

CDC is a member of ANNA and the National Numbering Agency (NNA) for Pakistan. The Company issues ISIN (International Securities Identification Number) to standardize identification of local securities for trading and settlement in the country and abroad. ISIN is the unique identification number assigned to identify securities worldwide.

 

South Asian Federation of Exchanges (SAFE)

CDC is an Associate member of SAFE, a forum launched by bourses in South Asia to promote the development of securities markets in the region. SAFE encourages its members towards developing international accounting standards, cross-border listings, human resource development, technology transfer and best business practices. It also facilitates South Asian capital markets towards regional and global integration.

 

International Securities Services Association (ISSA)

CDC is a member of ISSA, a non-profit, private sector, global organization with around 85 members worldwide comprising of custodian banks, clearing organizations, central depositories, stock exchanges, brokers and asset managers. ISSA is a cross-industry and non-partisan association, providing leadership in the formulation and promotion of best practices to improve efficiency and risk management in the global asset servicing industry.

Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)

To avail benefits of cross-border cooperation, explore avenues of mutual assistance and enhance coordination with international depositories, CDC has signed a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with regional and international depositories. These include:

 

  • Korean Securities Depository (KSD)
  • Japan Security Depository Centre (JASDEC)
  • Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), U.S.A.
  • Thailand Securities Depository (TSD)
  • Abu Dhabi Securities Market (ADSM)
  • Dubai Financial Market (DFM)
  • Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC)

These MoUs entail cooperation in the areas of technology exchange, operational procedures, mechanism for cross-border listing of securities and exchange of information.
