Jehan Ara is the President of the Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT & ITES (P@SHA). For the past 17 years, she has been spearheading efforts at P@SHA, developing the brand and creating linkages with local & international partners. She is currently a Member of the Prime Minister’s Taskforce for IT & Telecom.
Jehan has vast experience in the fields of Marketing, Communications and interactive new media while working in Hong Kong, the Far East, the UAE and Pakistan. She is a motivator, entrepreneur, social activist and a strong propagator of extending the use of Information and Communication Technologies beyond pure traditional business to empower and enable community development.
Jehan serves on the Advisory Boards of the Punjab IT Board, the Sindh IT Advisory Board and various universities including IBA and the Habib University. She is the President of Bolo Bhi, a Research Based Civil Society organization that focuses on Open Access. Jehan is also a member of the World Bank Advisory Group on Gender Diversity. She is also a Board Member of the Institute of Development and Economic Alternatives (IDEAS) which is a non-profit research organization established to promote, support, undertake and spearhead policy research and advocacy.
In 2015, Jehan set up The Nest I/O, a technology incubator, accelerator and innovation community hub in Karachi in association with Google for budding entrepreneurs to help provide a platform for aspiring technology businesses.
Under her mentorship, the Nest I/O has incubated 189+ startup businesses and created a strong community of young entrepreneurs since its conception, The Nest I/O’s flagship innovation and entrepreneurship conference ‘021Disrupt’ has become a go-to premier event that brings together startups, innovators, professionals, investors and students on a platform to engage, learn and collaborate.
